Does tankless mean instant hot water at the faucet?

No. Water still has to travel through the pipes. If your main frustration is waiting at a distant bathroom, ask about a recirculation solution before assuming a different heater will fix it.

What should you know
before choosing a system?

When is tankless a poor fit?

When the home cannot support the required electrical or gas supply without upgrades that exceed your budget. Gas and electric tankless need separate evaluations. A compact unit is not automatically a simple conversion.

Which brand is best?

Compare specific models, local parts availability, installation requirements and written warranty terms. A brand name alone does not establish whether a model fits your home.

Will a bigger unit solve it?

Your written estimate should identify the selected unit, installation work, old-unit removal, connection changes, permit responsibilities and warranty terms. Any additional required work should be explained and approved before it is performed.

How long will I be without hot water?

A straightforward tank replacement can often be completed in a few hours. Conversions and installations involving connection upgrades take longer. We confirm the expected work and interruption with your specific installation.

What if I don’t know my current unit’s size or type?

Choose “Not sure” in the builder. A photo of the full unit, its label and surrounding connections can help us identify the setup. An inspection may still be needed before a final price.

Does a new water heater need maintenance?

Yes. The schedule and procedures depend on the model, water conditions and manufacturer instructions. Ask about tank service, tankless descaling or heat-pump filter care as applicable to your selected unit.

Is financing available?

Financing options are available for qualified customers, subject to lender approval and current terms. Review the applicable rate, payment schedule and promotional conditions before choosing a plan.

Will my online estimate be the final price?

The builder provides an estimate based on the information you enter. The final written price follows verification of the existing setup, selected unit and required work. Unexpected work requires your approval.

Should I repair or replace my water heater?

A failed heating element, thermostat, or leaking connection may be repairable. A leaking storage tank generally requires replacement.

At Aqua Vita Plumbing, we consider your water heater’s age, condition, warranty, and repair cost before recommending a solution. Having no hot water does not automatically mean you need a new unit.

How long does a water heater last?

Many conventional tank water heaters last roughly 10 years, while tankless units may last around 20 years. Actual service life depends on water quality, maintenance, usage, and installation conditions.

Age alone does not determine whether replacement is necessary. Recurring problems, corrosion, leaks, and repair costs also matter.

Is a tankless water heater better than a traditional tank?

The best choice depends on your home and hot-water needs. A traditional tank stores hot water and is often simpler to replace with a similar unit. Tankless heaters save space and heat water on demand, but they have limits on how much hot water they can deliver at once.

Switching to tankless may require electrical, gas, or venting upgrades. We help you compare the complete installation requirements before deciding.

What size water heater does my home need?

We consider how many people live in your home, your shower and appliance usage, and how much hot water you need at the same time.

For tank heaters, storage capacity and recovery rate matter. For tankless heaters, we consider flow rates and the temperature increase needed. Bathroom count alone does not determine the correct size.

Can I replace my electric tank water heater with an electric tankless unit?

Often, yes, but your home’s electrical capacity must be checked first. Whole-house electric tankless heaters can require additional dedicated circuits, larger wiring, and sometimes an electrical service upgrade.

Will a tankless water heater give me instant hot water at every faucet?

Not by itself. Water sitting in the pipes between your heater and faucet must usually flow out before newly heated water arrives. Your pipe layout and the distance to the fixture affect the waiting time.

What is a hybrid heat pump water heater?

A hybrid water heater uses heat from the surrounding air to heat water in a storage tank. It also has electric heating elements to support higher demand.

It can use less electricity than a conventional electric tank, but the installation location must meet the model’s requirements for airflow, space, and condensate drainage. Fan and compressor noise should also be considered when choosing its location.

Why does my water heater run out of hot water?

Your household may be using more hot water than the system can supply, or the heater may have a faulty component. Plumbing issues can also affect the temperature you receive at your fixtures.

If your hot-water supply has suddenly decreased, an inspection can help determine whether you need a repair, maintenance, or a different-sized system.

Does my water heater need regular maintenance?

Yes. The maintenance required depends on the model and your water conditions.

Tank heaters may need sediment flushing and anode inspection. Tankless heaters may need descaling and filter cleaning. Hybrid water heaters also require air-filter maintenance. We recommend following the manufacturer’s maintenance instructions for your specific unit.
